APPLES

Fuji

The Fuji apple was developed in Japan about 80 years ago. This variety and the Anna variety do best in SoCal weather. It produces fruit that is the size of a baseball and is sweeter and crisper than many other varieties. Fuji apples ripen in mid-September and have a long shelf life.

Anna

The Anna apple was developed in Israel for its very low chill requirement making it a good choice for SoCal weather. It is a large apple with yellow-green skin that is sweet but slightly tart. This apple is a good choice for eating, making pies, and apple sauce. The fruit ripens in late June or early July.
