Loquats are an evergreen tree or shrub that can grow to 30 feet tall but is usually no more than 15 feet. The tree flowers in autumn or early winter and produces fruit in early spring. The skin of the fruit is often tough but can be peeled easily when the fruit is ripe. It has a succulent tangy taste and is often used to make folk medicines.
