Originally from Persia (Iran) there are over 500 varieties of Pomegranates. Trees can be grown in most areas where the temperature does not drop below 14 degrees F. They are drought tolerant and produce a fruit that has hundreds of seeds surrounded by a liquid pulp. The fruit and the seeds have hundreds of uses both in cooking as well as juices and medicines. Grenadine syrup is a thickened and sweetened pomegranate juice.
