Star Fruit is also known as Carambola Fruit and is native to the Philippines. It is called Star Fruit because the cross section looks like a star. The whole fruit is edible, bit the skin can be slightly waxy. It is sweet and extremely juicy and some compare the flavor to a combination of papaya, orange and grapefruit. The tree grows fast and is harvested in June to August often producing hundreds of pounds of fruit per mature tree.
