Full grown the Rollinia or Biriba grows to 50 feet. The fruit is yellow ehrn ripe and covered with reticulated soft spines. The spines are easily bruised and turn black making the fruit appear spoiled. It contains a large amount of inedible seed contained in a soft, sweet pulp with a taste similar to bananas.

It is grown in the sub tropic regions of the world, especially in southeast Asia and South America.
