The
tamarind tree grows to a maximum height of 60 feet. It produces
a large amount of fruit, which is contained within brown pods. That
fruit is usually reddish-brown and juicy. The flavor of the pulp
has been described as sweet and sour by some. The poad aslo contain
seed, whcih are not eaten. In Mexico and some other countries the
pulp is squeezed to release the juice, which is made into a popular
lemonaide like beverage called "tamarindo".
